Our Story

Namaste, I am Ami (founder and director of Devpriya Yoga), and my joy comes from helping people find peace and relaxation. The tools I use are yogic which include Postures (Asanas), Breath work (Pranayama), and Meditation. I started my yoga Journey at the age of 10. I practiced with a teacher who taught yoga to my grandfather in India. Then I rediscovered this knowledge at the age of 35 when life became very demanding. Being a pharmacist and mother of 2 boys, I realized the importance of both mental and physical well-being and started to take yoga classes. My teacher(Sarita Aunty) ignited a fire in me and developed my passion and love for yoga. 

After that, I took children’s yoga training(YY4K), 200 hrs. of Yoga teacher training (AlphaOmega Yoga,USA), 200 hrs. of a Yoga instructor course (Kdham,India), and also yoga therapy training (300 hrs.) from the Ayush ministry (Govt. of India).

I am a registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance E-RYT 200, which is only available for an experienced Yoga teacher with over 1000 hours of teaching experience. By profession ,I am a Pharmacist.


I have been practicing yoga here in the US for over 12 years and teaching for over 4 of those years. I have continually furthered my education in many areas related to the yogic way of life.
